Next to Last Puppy Obedience Class

Last night marked the 7th of our 8 puppy classes. We started the class with the customary "Good evening, Teacher", "Hello Students" greeting.

Then Jasmine came over to say "Hey".

This evening we worked on commands without food rewards during the first half of the class. Kelli rewarded Winston with a nice rub behind the ears instead of food. Winston seemed to like her attention a lot.

Everyone seems to be making good progress with their humans. Here are Dexter and Jasmine working one on one with their pack.

Next on the agenda was nutrition. Have you ever looked at the ingredients on the major dog foods? We learned that corn is the mainstay of many "premium" dog foods and most have food coloring added. Yeah, like Winston cares if his food is light brown or dark brown. Then we learned that wolves aren't much into farming and rarely grow corn or wheat so grains shouldn't be a large portion of a canine's diet.

Dexter and Jasime paid close attention to our instructor during the nutrition lecture, but Winston kept nodding off. He was bone tired after following his brother and sister to doggie daycare all day and slept during the talk. I sure hope Jasmine took notes!
